How to run a ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude brand visibility audit
Clients increasingly ask one question. When people ask AI about our category, do we come up? A brand visibility audit across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude gives a grounded answer. Here is a method you can repeat every month.

Why audit three models
Each assistant draws on different sources and different search partners. A brand can appear often in Gemini answers yet rarely in Claude answers. Checking all three shows where the gaps really are instead of guessing from one tool.
Step 1: write real buyer questions
Start with ten to twenty questions a real buyer would ask. Mix category questions such as best accounting software for freelancers with comparison questions such as BrandA vs BrandB. Avoid questions that already contain your brand name, because they always return your brand and teach you nothing.
Step 2: ask through a consistent method
Typing questions into the consumer apps gives answers shaped by your own history and location. For a fair audit, use the same settings every time. Geolytic paid plans send your saved questions through the official Gemini API with Google Search grounding, the OpenAI API and the Claude API. Every run uses the same method, so results are comparable over time.
Be clear with clients about this. API answers are close relatives of what the consumer apps show, not identical copies. We never present them as live rankings inside the ChatGPT app.
Step 3: record what each answer says
- Was the brand mentioned at all?
- Where did it appear, first or further down the list?
- Which competitors were named instead?
- Was the description of the brand accurate?
- Which websites, if any, were cited?
Geolytic records mentions, position and competitor names with simple string matching, so every result can be traced back to the stored answer text. Sentiment stays marked as not measured until it has been reviewed, rather than guessed.
Step 4: compare against competitors
Share of voice is the portion of answers that mention each brand across your question set. Add up to three competitors and track how often each one appears. A competitor that shows up everywhere usually has clearer pages, more third party coverage or both. Study their sites with a competitor scan to see what they do differently.
Step 5: connect gaps to fixes
Missing mentions usually trace back to the site itself. Run a free GEO audit to check crawler access, structured data and how clearly the site explains the business. Then strengthen the pages that should answer each question. Our guide on how to rank in ChatGPT covers the content side in detail.
Step 6: repeat on a schedule
One audit is a snapshot. Monthly audits with the same questions show whether your work is moving the numbers. Keep each month in the same report so trends are easy to explain.
